Events of EFUCA

The generations that followed the great wars around the world dared to draw, but the reality required them to build their work from what little was left.

It was necessary to create a world organization to understand this vision worthy of the future of humanity and to remind us that, despite discouragement, fears, pain, we must never lose hope.

Let us remember what the UNESCO Constitutionstates: "Since wars begin in the minds of men, the defense of peace must also be built in the minds of men."

We will soon be twenty years old since the European Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO formed its own path, starting in Romania. Our dialogue has been and is relevant and enterprising, given that our anniversary comes in the context of the great celebration: 75 years since the creation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

We call on all our colleagues, partners in Unesco civil society around the world, to remain connected in a vision of the future that does not overlook the suffering and the world torn by this relentless pandemic.

Let's think optimistically about what we are given to live.

COVID-19 achieved in a few days what the educational reforms for years have failed: promoting the use of digital tools at different levels of education. The pandemic of the 21st century has completely destroyed the predictability of the future and introduced uncertainty.

Education should embrace the principle of uncertainty, which also applies to social developments, for example, the discovery of the coronavirus vaccine.

In the face of the flood of information, it is necessary to discern what the key information is and use it in our favour.

Education for sustainable development and the use of digital tools should also be based on the proposal made by Edgar Morin, known as the seven necessary knowledge.

Azure, the journal of the European Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO, brings to the fore in this issue, scientific papers dedicated to this current topic -sustainable development and future prospects.

We thank the Club for Unesco Alumnus, which turns 20 this year and which publishes this issue of the magazine.

We also thank the coordinator, Mrs. Professor Univ. Dr. Octavia Costea.

The presented works draw a firm line in the future, addressing optimistic themes of social cohesion and international solidarity, in a world to be rebuilt with care for all our fellow human beings through educational strategies both socially and online. The authors' didactic innovations are found in the current context of solving people's worries through proposed strategies for learning, resilience, social inclusion, offering educational structures to meet online or social learning. Raising teachers' awareness of action for social cohesion and international solidarity involves building educational activity based on democratic values: justice, equity, pluralism, freedom, respect for the individual and the right to privacy, cooperation, participation.
